God has GOOD things for us, and He calls us forward into them. Only we are not to fear.
Joshua and Caleb along with their band of desert wandering Israelites had just returned from scouting out the promised land.
“The land, which we passed through to spy it out, is an exceedingly good land. If the Lord delights in us, he will bring us into this land and give it to us, a land that flows with milk and honey. Only do not rebel against the Lord. And do not fear the people of the land, for they are bread for us. Their protection is removed from them, and the Lord is with us; do not fear them.” Numbers 14:6-9
Do not fear.
When the God of the universe tells us not to fear, it is no trite, empty saying. This is the One who parted the Red Sea so that the Israelites could walk through on dry land, only to have the waters come crashing down on their Egyptian pursuers. This is the One who kept the lions from devouring Daniel. This is the One who walked on water and told the storm to be still.
This is the One with power and authority over all things. And this One says fear not.
“Only do not rebel against the Lord. And do not fear…” Num.14:9
