I have a book of 100 pasta sauces that I picked up at a thrift store, and it has yielded some wonderful pasta recipes! A couple weeks ago, I hosted an evening with friends and served one of the recipes with peas and bacon.
So, here’s how the recipe generally goes. Boil water for the pasta (ravioli, farfalle, penne, or other), and put pasta in the boiling water. While the pasta is cooking, put olive oil and butter in a pan. Put diced onions into the pan and allow the onion to get soft. Then add bacon that has been cut into small pieces. Add a little bit of garlic (as desired) and salt and pepper. Allow the bacon to cook through. Add peas (fresh or frozen), and allow the peas to cook. Turn the heat down.
Drain most of the water from the pasta and put 1/2 cup of pasta water into the pan with peas and bacon. Add the pasta to the pan. Cover and turn down the heat. Allow to cook for a few minutes.
